Privacy policy
Plain English, and true to what the app actually does.
Effective
No account
Pocket Field Monitor does not require an account or sign-in. There is nothing to register and nothing to log into.
No analytics or tracking
The app contains no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It does not monitor how you use it.
No microphone access
Pocket Field Monitor never requests microphone access. Its audio meters are synthetic, not a reading from any microphone.
Camera access
Pocket Field Monitor asks for camera access to show the iPhone's own preview when no Nikon ZR is attached. That preview is displayed on screen and is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere by the app.
Connecting to a Nikon ZR
When a Nikon ZR is attached over USB-C, or joined over the ZR's own Wi-Fi access point, Pocket Field Monitor exchanges only camera-control and image data with that camera. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
Files Pocket Field Monitor writes
The only files Pocket Field Monitor writes are Gyroflow text files (motion logs, lens profiles and project files). They are saved in the app's Documents folder, where they are visible in the Files app. These files never leave your phone unless you move them yourself.
Payment
Payment is handled by Apple through StoreKit. Pocket Field Monitor does not see your payment details.
Data sent to the developer
No data is sent to the developer of Pocket Field Monitor.
This website
This website counts visits with PostHog and Google Analytics, to learn which version of the homepage helps people most. It sets two first-party cookies of its own: a random visitor id, and which homepage version you were shown. They hold nothing else and expire after 90 days. PostHog sets no cookies of its own here, records no sessions, and discards your IP address.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga) to recognise a returning visitor, and receives the pages you view and whether you joined the beta, together with the same random visitor id. It never receives your email address. Google’s own use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors from the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and nothing above runs or is set until they accept. Anyone, anywhere, can change their answer with Cookie settings at the foot of every page; saying no removes the visitor id and Google’s cookies. The answer itself is kept in one more cookie for six months.
If you sign up for the beta, your email address is sent to Formspree, which stores it for us. It is used to send your TestFlight beta invite and one email when the app is on the App Store, and never shared. To be removed, email support@pocketfieldmonitor.com.
The app itself contains none of this.
